Did I already mention that eating colourful is a very good idea? 😉
Today let’s talk about yellow-orange fruits and veggies. Their nutrients have a positive effect on our immune system and eyesight and are also thought to help prevent some types of cancer, heart disease and skin ageing.
In general yellow-orange foods are also a very good source of beta-carotene, that our body uses to produce vitamin A.
In Fiji, vitamin A deficiency is quite common and according to the Ministry of Health, 34% of children under 5 years are at risk.
But the good news is that we can prevent this simply by making sure we include yellow-orange fruit and vegetables in our diet – and in that of our families. 🥕
In Fiji we’re lucky, we have so many options of tasty yellow-orange foods: pumpkins, mangoes, carrots, oranges, pawpaw, kumala, yam, capsicum. What else? 🍠
